For invited clients

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 27, 2026 · Effective: November 2, 2026 · Version française

Lumo is built for nutrition care that feels more supported between appointments. Your Practitioner sets the plan and clinical guardrails. Lumo helps deliver day-to-day nutrition support inside those guardrails.

These terms are a contract between you and Advanced Imagination Labs Inc., operating as Lumo. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who can use Lumo

You may use Lumo only if you are at least 18 years old, live in Canada, were invited by a registered dietitian or another qualified nutrition professional who uses Lumo with clients ("your Practitioner"), and can enter into a binding agreement.

Lumo is not currently for minors. If we support minors in the future, we will require appropriate parent or guardian consent and any other consent required by law.

2. What Lumo does

Lumo is a nutrition support app used by your Practitioner as part of their services to you.

  • log meals and nutrition activity;
  • receive meal ideas and nutrition suggestions;
  • track habits, preferences, and check-ins;
  • message in a shared thread with your Practitioner and Lumo;
  • receive AI-assisted responses inside the plan and guardrails your Practitioner sets; and
  • surface information that may help your Practitioner understand how your plan is going between appointments.

Lumo is designed around one simple idea: your Practitioner stays in control of your care, and Lumo helps with the daily support work around it.

3. What Lumo is not

Lumo is not your doctor, dietitian, therapist, or emergency service. Lumo is intended as a nutrition support, workflow, and decision-support tool used with your Practitioner. Lumo is not intended to replace your Practitioner's professional judgment, independently diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or mitigate any disease or condition, provide medical advice, or be used as an emergency or crisis service.

AI-generated content may be wrong, incomplete, outdated, or not appropriate for your situation. If something in Lumo seems wrong, unsafe, confusing, or inconsistent with what your Practitioner told you, contact your Practitioner before relying on it.

Lumo does not guarantee that all relevant issues, risks, omissions, contraindications, concerns, or unsafe patterns will be detected or flagged.

4. Emergencies and crisis support

Do not use Lumo for emergencies. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 in Canada for the Suicide Crisis Helpline. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Lumo may, where configured, show safety information or surface certain concerns to your Practitioner. Lumo is not monitored continuously, is not a crisis monitoring service, and does not replace emergency care, crisis lines, or your Practitioner's professional duties.

5. Your Practitioner and your care

Your Practitioner owns the clinical relationship with you. They are responsible for assessment, advice, care planning, monitoring, escalation, referral, and record keeping according to the professional and privacy rules that apply to their practice.

Lumo provides technology. We do not supervise your Practitioner and we do not control the nutrition services they provide. Your Practitioner may add, edit, review, approve, remove, or override information in Lumo as part of their services to you. They may also end your access if Lumo is no longer part of their services.

Lumo may not be your Practitioner's complete legal health record. Your Practitioner may maintain separate clinical records according to the standards and laws that apply to their practice.

6. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.

  • do not share your account with anyone else;
  • do not impersonate another person;
  • do not upload content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, or misleading;
  • do not attempt to access another person's account or data;
  • do not scrape, copy, reverse engineer, or interfere with Lumo;
  • do not try to extract model weights, prompts, training data, or source code;
  • do not use Lumo to build or benchmark a competing product without our written permission; and
  • do not use Lumo in a way that could harm another person, your Practitioner, Lumo, or the security of the service.

7. Your information

Your Practitioner is responsible for your health information in connection with the care they provide to you. Lumo handles your information to operate the app, support your Practitioner's services, keep the service secure, and provide the features you use.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your identifiable health information to train foundation models or third-party AI models, and we do not allow AI providers to use your information to train their models.

Depending on the law that applies to your Practitioner, Lumo may act as an information manager, service provider, or processor under an agreement with your Practitioner. Please read our Privacy Policy for more detail about what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

8. Your privacy rights

You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete personal information connected to your use of Lumo.

For health information connected to your care, send your request to your Practitioner. For Lumo account information, login information, device data, support requests, or app-specific privacy questions, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@lumomeals.com.

If Lumo ever uses your personal information to make a decision about you based exclusively on automated processing, we will tell you no later than the time we tell you about that decision. Where required by law, you may ask for the personal information used, the reasons and main factors that led to the decision, correction of inaccurate information, and a chance to submit observations to a person who can review the decision.

9. AI-generated content

Lumo may generate meal ideas, summaries, suggestions, check-in prompts, safety flags, or messages using AI systems. Your information may be processed by AI inference providers only to provide Lumo's features and subject to safeguards and contractual limits arranged with your Practitioner. By default, these providers are configured not to retain your information after responding.

You may choose to let Lumo keep de-identified copies of your AI conversations to evaluate and improve Lumo. This is optional, off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time without affecting your care. Our Privacy Policy explains how it works.

AI content is for support and information only. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for you. It may also be similar to content generated for other users.

You may use AI-generated content from Lumo for your own personal use in connection with your Practitioner's care. You should not treat AI-generated content as medical advice or as a substitute for your Practitioner's judgment.

AI-generated safety flags and summaries are not comprehensive. They may miss important context, concerns, or changes in your situation.

10. Content you submit

You keep any rights you have in content you submit to Lumo, such as messages, meal logs, check-ins, preferences, photos, or notes.

You give Lumo permission to use, store, copy, process, display, and transmit your submitted content only as needed to provide Lumo to you and your Practitioner; operate, maintain, secure, debug, evaluate, and improve the service, including through aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise privacy-protective forms where required; comply with law; and enforce these terms. Do not submit content you do not have the right to submit.

11. Fees

During the current pilot, you do not pay Lumo for access. Your Practitioner has arranged access as part of their services to you.

Any fees your Practitioner charges for their professional services are between you and your Practitioner. If Lumo introduces paid features for end users in the future, we will tell you in advance and obtain any consent required before charging you.

12. Ending your use of Lumo

You can stop using Lumo at any time. You can delete your account in the app, if that feature is available, or contact us for help. Your Practitioner may also remove your access if Lumo is no longer part of their services to you.

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, your use creates a safety, legal, privacy, or security risk, your Practitioner ends your access, we stop offering Lumo in your region, or we are required to do so by law. We will try to give notice unless we reasonably cannot.

After your access ends, you will have 30 days to request an export of personal information available through Lumo. After that, Lumo will delete personal information from production systems within 90 days and from backups within 180 days, unless we or your Practitioner are legally required to keep it longer. Your Practitioner may have separate professional record-keeping obligations.

13. Lumo ownership

Lumo owns the app, platform, software, interfaces, workflows, models, prompts, documentation, branding, and improvements to them. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Lumo during the time you have an active account and only as part of your Practitioner's services to you.

14. Service availability

We work to keep Lumo useful, secure, and available. We do not promise that Lumo will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every situation. We may update, improve, limit, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time and will try to give reasonable notice where a change materially affects your use.

15. Warranties and limits

Lumo is provided "as is" and "as available" to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or business interruption. Lumo's total liability to you for all claims relating to Lumo or these terms is limited to CAD $100 or the amount you paid directly to Lumo in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in these terms limits your non-waivable rights under applicable consumer protection, privacy, health-information, or other laws.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.

If you are a consumer resident in another Canadian province or territory, you may have rights under the consumer protection laws of your home province or territory that cannot be contracted out of. Those rights are preserved.

We will try to resolve disputes informally first. If we cannot, either of us may go to court. You may bring a small claims action in your home province or territory if the law allows it. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration and do not waive your right to participate in a class action.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the app, by email, or by another reasonable method. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you can stop using Lumo and close your account before the updated terms take effect.

18. Contact

Questions about these terms, your account, or support can be sent to team@lumomeals.com. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to our Privacy Officer at privacy@lumomeals.com.

These terms are available in French and English.
